Etchings

The guiding principle of my etched work is an attraction for the myths that interpret the mysteries of nature and explain the history of mankind, including ancient cultures such as those of the Bronze Age which remain in the so-called primitive societies.” Ferdinand Springer.

"One day I met Le Corbusier at a printers’ workshop. He looked at my work and exclaimed "Ah, you are also using the chisel; it calms me down". This revealed to me the reason for my attachment to this technique.  By taking a chisel and sliding on a copper plate, you make a gesture similar to that of the sculptor who struggles against the material. It is is a very physical job, and in difficult times, it has brought me an interior calm that I could not get otherwise.” Ferdinand Springer
